The common research project starts from the idea that the built environment and open spaces, can be understood as Collective Structures. The research project focuses on urban projects, streetscapes or buildings and relates them with concepts of “depth configurations”, “interfaces” or “uncertain scenarios” at different scales. The conceptual understanding of these parameters, as well as a coherent mapping of the built environment and systems of open spaces and both their inherent organisation, use or accessibility are an essential aim of the research domain that is explored by a series of joint working sessions and a research seminar, linked to different design studios.

Participants: Kris Scheerlinck, Jan Schreurs, Erik Van Daele, 2011-2014.
