Chukwuemeka Vincent CHUKWUEMEKA obtained Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree from Imo State University, Nigeria in 2005. He also obtained Master of Arts in Architecture degree from Anhalt University of Applied Sciences / Dessau Institute of Architecture DIA – Bauhaus, Germany in 2014. Upon graduation, he received the 2014 DAAD-Preis from Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, awarded to the best international graduating student from a German University. Currently, he is an IRO Doctoral Scholar at the department of architecture, a full PhD scholarship position awarded to exceptional scholars from developing countries by University of Leuven (KU Leuven) in Belgium.

Prior to his studies in Germany, he co-founded a design/research-based practice in Nigeria. He has over 8 years of professional experience both in Nigeria and Germany, executing several projects. He also co-founded a research based not-for-profit organisation in Nigeria with focus on cities and economic empowerment of the urban poor. His PhD research project focuses on understanding collective spaces, informal dynamics, and emergent processes of urban growth in cities, taking Onitsha Markets in Nigeria as case study.
